Addressing shareholders, chairman David Newling described the past 12 months as a turning point for the company, following the completion of major transactions, a return to the ASX and more than $100 million raised from shareholders. Austral has repaid the Rocklands acquisition facility previously provided by Glencore and is progressing toward recommissioning the Rocklands processing facility. The company said major procurement and recommissioning activities at Rocklands continue, including the delivery of a new SAG mill to site during the current quarter. Operational plans through recommissioning are fully funded. "Twelve or eighteen months ago, parts of this probably looked ambitious," Mr Newling said. "Today, it feels achievable. "Austral's strategy has centred on consolidating infrastructure across Mount Kelly, Rocklands and Lady Loretta, positioning the company as one of the few operators in Australia with the capability to process both copper oxides and copper sulphides. The company said those assets would form the foundation for long-term production growth in the Mount Isa region, focusing on expanding and extending production across its existing asset base while continuing to pursue exploration and corporate opportunities. Recent high-grade drilling results at Snow Queen were highlighted as further evidence of the broader copper potential surrounding Austral's north-west Queensland operations. Austral reiterated that its strategy would remain firmly focused on Queensland and copper. "We are an Australian-focused, North West Queensland-focused, pure copper company," Mr Newling said. "That will not change. "The comments come amid increasing government focus on the strategic importance of copper and North West Queensland's role in Australia's future industrial and energy supply chains. Recent federal and Queensland government initiatives have reinforced the significance of the Mount Isa region to regional employment and the nation's critical minerals capability. Beyond operations, the annual general meeting also reflected on the importance of regional relationships and workforce stability during the company's recovery and growth. Mr Newling said maintaining support for suppliers, contractors and local communities during more difficult periods had strengthened Austral's standing across the north-west. "That community support matters," he said. "When pressure goes onto the system, relationships matter. "Austral also confirmed it intends to undertake a broader brand refresh later this year as its operational footprint continues to grow across the region. The company said the refresh would simplify and better align its operational identity while retaining the Austral Resources name. Shareholders also voted on a number of resolutions supporting the company's next phase of growth, including matters relating to board composition, capital management and long-term incentive structures. Austral said it remained focused on disciplined growth, operational delivery and helping strengthen North West Queensland's position as one of Australia's most significant copper regions as it works toward becoming Australia's next mid-tier copper production powerhouse.
