Salesforce, Tripura Government Partner to Skill 10,000 Learners for AI-Driven Economy

Salesforce and the Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, have partnered to provide digital skills training to more than 10,000 learners by 2027, as the state seeks to strengthen its workforce for an AI-driven economy. The initiative, announced at the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 in Agartala, will use Trailhead, Salesforce's online learning platform, to provide self-paced training to students, young people, government employees and entrepreneurs across the state. The programme will offer guided learning paths covering customer relationship management (CRM), business analysis, technology fundamentals and other digital skills. The courses are designed for beginner and intermediate learners and will be delivered through bite-sized modules that participants can complete at their own pace. Salesforce will provide online orientation resources to help participants navigate Trailhead, while the Directorate of Information Technology will identify learners through government departments, educational institutions and skill development agencies. Tripura Links Skilling With Digital InfrastructureThe collaboration comes as Tripura expands its digital infrastructure and technology ecosystem. The state is developing the Tripura IT and Data Ecosystem Zone (TIDEZ) in Agartala, along with a planned IT Park and AI Centre of Excellence. The state has also expanded its e-Office initiative from the State Secretariat to all three tiers of the Panchayati Raj system. Salesforce and the state government said the skilling programme is intended to complement these investments by building a workforce with skills relevant to the digital economy. Kiran Gitte, IAS, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Tripura, said the partnership would connect the state's digital infrastructure investments with workforce development. "Our partnership with Salesforce marks a key milestone in Tripura's digital journey. With strong policy foundations already in place, this collaboration will equip our students, government workforce, and entrepreneurs with future-ready digital skills, driving innovation and inclusive growth. We look forward to working with a global technology leader to build a self-sustaining IT ecosystem and empower Tripura's workforce to realise its full potential," said Kiran Gitte. Jeya Ragul Geshan B, IFS, Director, Information Technology, Government of Tripura, said the state wants to connect its growing pool of young talent with skills that are relevant to employers. "Tripura produces a strong pipeline of young talent every year; our priority is to match that talent with globally relevant skills. Partnering with Salesforce allows us to complement our investments in TIDEZ, the IT Park and the AI Centre of Excellence with a skilling layer that makes our workforce visible and valuable to industry," said Jeya Ragul Geshan B. Salesforce Targets Wider Access to Digital SkillsArundhati Bhattacharya, President and CEO, Salesforce South Asia, said digital growth will increasingly depend on developing talent beyond India's established technology centres. "India's next wave of digital growth will be shaped by talent in every part of the country. Tripura's focus on building skills alongside digital infrastructure is essential to making that growth inclusive. Through Trailhead, we are proud to help make practical learning more accessible and support students, government employees and entrepreneurs as they build capabilities for a rapidly changing economy," said Arundhati Bhattacharya. Trailhead provides technology and business learning through self-paced modules and guided learning paths. Through the collaboration, Salesforce and the Tripura government aim to make these resources available to learners across different segments of the state's workforce. The programme forms part of Tripura's broader efforts to build digital capabilities alongside infrastructure and attract technology-led economic activity. For Salesforce, the partnership expands its skilling efforts into a northeastern state where government-led digital transformation and the development of new technology infrastructure are progressing alongside workforce development.
