Ministry of Economy eliminated 2 million lei turnover condition from SME Eco-Tech programme

The Ministry of Economy, Digitalisation, Entrepreneurship and Tourism (MEDAT) is removing the requirement for companies to have recorded a minimum turnover of 2 million lei as of December 31, 2024, from the SME Eco-Tech Programme, allowing more micro-enterprises to access funding under the scheme. 'MEDAT is removing the requirement for a minimum turnover of 2 million lei as of December 31, 2024, so that more micro-enterprises can invest in digitalisation and software, process automation, modern equipment, energy efficiency and green technologies, and renewable energy,' the ministry said in a Facebook post. The SME Eco-Tech Programme has a total budget of 54. 04 million Swiss francs, equivalent to approximately 288. 8 million lei. Funding will be awarded in the order in which applications are submitted, on a 'first come, first served' basis. The deadline for submitting funding applications under the SME Eco-Tech Programme is September 24, 2026. Applications are submitted via the sme-ecotech. gov. ro platform. The SME Eco-Tech Programme is implemented by MEDAT under the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme and aims to support green and digital investments by SMEs in the manufacturing, trade and services sectors. The programme's objectives are to reduce environmental impact, increase the competitiveness and productivity of businesses, stimulate domestic production and support employment. Under this de minimis aid scheme, at least 800 SMEs from all eight development regions of Romania are expected to receive funding.
