Photo Credit: Keith CornettToday we got the official fuel economy numbers for the 6. 7-liter LS6 engine in the2027 Corvette Stingray. As expected afterCanada’s findingslast month, the new LS6 does a little worse primarily in city driving while its highway rating is the same as the 495-hp LT2 Corvette Stingray Z51. The official rating for the LS6 from the EPA’s FuelEconomy. gov website lists the 6. 7-liter LS6 as 15 MPH City, 25 MPG Highway for 18 MPG combined. The previous model year Stingray with the 6. 2-liter LT2 V8 was listed as 16 MPG City, 25 MPG Highway, and 19 MPG Combined. Not bad at all considering the LS6 produces significantly more horsepower and torque (around 535 hp vs 495 hp with Z51). Here’s the side-by-side comparison fromFuelEconomy. gov:There wasn’t a separate listing for the 2027 Grand Sport which uses the same LS6 engine. The 2027 Stingray is exempt from gas-guzzler taxes as well. The new sixth-generation small block uses cylinder deactivation and has other efficiency features such as dual port/direct injection. And yet by increasing the displacement to 409ci, adding the larger 95 mm throttle body, and raising compression to 13. 0:1, we can see where that extra power is being made. What’s an MPG worth? The government website says the larger engine will consume about +0. 3 gallons more fuel over 100 miles versus the LT2-powered 2026 Corvette Stingray. So, the trade off for significantly more power is a slight decrease in city driving mileage. We’ll take this as a win!Source:FuelEconomy. govRelated:First Fuel Economy Ratings for the 2027 Corvette’s LS6 V8 Are Out2026 Corvette ZR1X Fuel Economy Ratings Now Available from CanadaEPA Officially Rates the Fuel Economy of the 1,064-hp Corvette ZR1Subscribe Now:
